HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor the members of the Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 of Joliet on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the organization; and

WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 is led by Grand Knight James R. Sponder; the group was started in 1957 by about 20 members at St. Stephen's Church in Joliet; there are over 200 members today; and

WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 members hold annual family picnics, children's Christmas parties, a weekly fish fry, a corned beef dinner, and many other activities; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the years Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 has supported Knights' charitable causes worldwide, including raising funds for disaster victims and different charities; their work in the community includes helping Cornerstone, United Cerebral Palsy of Will County, Maternity Services, and other groups; the main fundraisers of the year are the Annual Fish Fry and Tootsie Roll drive, benefitting mentally handicapped and mentally challenged citizens; and

WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 have provided funds to the Joliet Catholic Academy and Providence High School; they have also sponsored a team for many years with Belmont Little League in Joliet; and

WHEREAS, For 50 years the men of the Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 have served their church and their community, dedicated to the principles of charity, honor, fraternity, and patriotism and providing service to those in need; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the men of the Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 on the occasion of their 50th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to James Sponder, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 in Joliet as a symbol of our respect.
