HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the St. Louis Cardinals on their 2006 World Series victory; and

WHEREAS, With their 4-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers in game 5 on October 27th, 2007, the St. Louis Cardinals won their 10th World Series, the second-most World Series titles of any Major League team and the Cardinals' first World Series championship in 24 years; and

WHEREAS, In 2006, the first year in the new Busch Stadium, the Cardinals won their 17th National League Pennant and reached the postseason for the 22nd time; they reached the postseason for the sixth time in the last seven years, reached the World Series for the second time in three years, and won the National League Central Division for the third year in a row; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the St. Louis Cardinals on their spectacular World Series victory; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we designate the month of May 2007 as St. Louis Cardinals Month; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the St. Louis Cardinals as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
