HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Pegasus Special Riders is a program designed to "facilitate healing and empowerment in the lives of physically, mentally, and/or emotionally challenged individuals through a variety of equine assisted therapies"; and

WHEREAS, Pegasus Special Riders Inc. was formed in 1997, operating only if weather permitted; the program has grown to include an indoor racing arena, a tack room, feed room, physical therapy room and storage for hay; and

WHEREAS, Pegasus Special Riders is funded entirely by grants and contributions and relies on volunteers to help riders, care for the horses and the facilities, and work toward raising funds and support for the program; and

WHEREAS, 2007 is the 10th anniversary of the program and will be a special year filled with awareness campaigns, events, and the Annual Picnic and the Horseshoe Ball; and

WHEREAS, Pegasus Special Riders Program served 73 riders from ages 3 to 73 in 2006, operated with over 80 volunteers, and received in excess of $80,000 in contributions from donors; and

WHEREAS, Pegasus Special Riders Inc. in Oregon, Illinois, is to be commended for the hard work, dedication, and support of others in need; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the workers and staff of Pegasus Special Riders Inc. on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the organization; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to a representative of Pegasus Special Riders Inc.
