HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sylvia Gabel Pletcher of Plattville, who passed away on June 2, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Sylvia Gabel Pletcher was born on January 6, 1926 in Joliet; she was a daughter of Stephen and Helen (Krokuik) Ties; she married Russell Roy Gabel in Florida on September 14, 1945; they were married seven years until his unexpected death on January 5, 1953; she later married Hugh Pletcher on November 29, 1975 in Plattville; and

WHEREAS, Sylvia Gabel Pletcher will long be remembered as a devoted cornerstone of the Kendall County Republican Party, where she served in many capacities, including active membership of the Central Committee and as a political liaison, a position she held since 1991; she was a proud member of the United States Congressional Club; she was a former member of the LaFox Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association and was its 1984 Woman of the Year; she was the precinct chairman for Lisbon Township; she was a charter member of the Plattville VFW Auxiliary Post #8234; she was a former coordinator for the DeKalb County Sandwich Fair Queen Pageant; she was employed at the Country Charm in Yorkville as its Fashion Coordinator for several years; and she was employed from 1966 until 1991 as secretary of the Kendall County Cooperative Extension Services; and

WHEREAS, Sylvia Gabel Pletcher was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her brother, Stephen Ties; and her sisters, Mary Ann Hollis and Bernadine Horkey; and

WHEREAS, Sylvia Gabel Pletcher is survived by her children, Terry Gabel and his wife, Sue, and Patricia Norr and her husband, Wayne; her grandson, Jeffrey Norr and his wife, Elaine; her great-grandson, Isaac J. Norr; her sisters, Helen Fracaro and Theresa Zuchowski; her brother and sisters-in-law, Tom Horkey, Dorothy Shearer, and Alta (Larry) Langland; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Sylvia Gabel Pletcher; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sylvia Gabel Pletcher as an expression of our sympathy.
