| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy | 4 |
| Mae Williams of Chicago, who passed away on August 14, 2007; | 5 |
| and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy Mae Williams was born on October 27, 1929; | 7 |
| she came to Chicago at an early age and attended Drake | 8 |
| Elementary School and graduated from Phillips High School; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, She was a lifelong member of First Church of | 10 |
| Deliverance; she volunteered at the church, on the 30th | 11 |
| Anniversary Group and the Luella Williams Group; she also | 12 |
| served on the Board of Directors of the church daycare center; | 13 |
| and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, She served on the Board of Directors of Lakeside | 15 |
| Community Center; and she was given an award of merit from | 16 |
| Illinois Bell for being an exemplary long distance operator; | 17 |
| and
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, After her children were raised, Dorothy Mae | 19 |
| Williams returned to school and became a dedicated nurse, | 20 |
| specializing in Cardiac Care at Michael Reese Hospital; after | 21 |
| her retirement, she continued to care for her friends and |

| family whenever the need arose; and | 2 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy Mae Williams was preceded in death by her | 3 |
| son, Evell Moore, and her mother, Rosie Coleman; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Dorothy Mae Williams will be deeply | 5 |
| felt by her daughters, Lenora Williams (Kublai) Toure, Rose | 6 |
| Williams Dortch, and Evelyn Slater; and other family members | 7 |
| and friends; therefore, be it
| 8 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 9 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 10 |
| mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of | 11 |
| Dorothy Mae Williams; and be it further
| 12 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 |
| presented to the family of Dorothy Mae Williams as a symbol of | 14 |
| our sympathy.
