HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dave Brown on the occasion of his retirement as a Park District Commissioner for Grandwood Park; and

WHEREAS, Dave Brown moved to Grandwood Park in 1975; on the day he moved in, he went out on Grandwood Lake and helped clear snow for the ice fishing contest; from that day on, he has been known as the quiet force that took care of Grandwood Park; and

WHEREAS, Dave Brown was first commissioned as a Park District Commissioner for Grandwood Park in 1979; he has also been a member of the Grandwood Park Civic Association for many years; he served as a trustee of Warren Township from September of 1991 to May of 1997 and as a trustee of the Warren Waukegan Fire Protection District from July of 2000 to May of 2003; in total, he has given over 32 years of volunteer time to his community; and

WHEREAS, As a commissioner, Dave Brown took on many projects, including the finishing steps on the Grandwood Park's community center, making the center a very functional and important building in the community for parties, meetings, and a preschool; he spent many hours grooming the land surrounding the lake, which was overgrown with weeds and debris, into useable park space; he was instrumental in the acquisition of gazebos for the lake's park; he also worked very hard to protect the lake from erosion, cutting down trees, clearing brush, and mowing grass in order to keep the lake in its beautiful state; under his tenure as President, the top lot park was upgraded and renamed to Adams Park; and

WHEREAS, Dave Brown enjoys spending time with family, friends, and neighbors; he also has participated in the Grandwood Park fish fry events as a cook and continues to donate many hours to help set up for Summerfest in July; he has developed a reputation as a constant presence at community events; and

WHEREAS, Dave Brown's intense dedication to his community and his willingness to donate his time for such worthy causes make him a model for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dave Brown on the occasion of his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dave Brown as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
