HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jim Cartwright on being inducted into the National Wrestling Federation Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Jim Cartwright is a 1969 graduate of East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, where he was a successful member of the wrestling team; and

WHEREAS, After graduation, he began a solid wrestling career at Illinois State University; after his college graduation he became a teacher and wrestling coach at Conant High School in Hoffman Estates; and

WHEREAS, Jim Cartwright enjoyed twenty-five years as Head Coach; his teams had 425 dual meet victories and seventeen Mid-Suburban League championships; his teams captured fifteen regional titles, five sectional titles, three State runner-up trophies, and were ranked nationally several times; and

WHEREAS, Jim Cartwright coached eighty-three State qualifiers and thirty-two State place winners, eight of whom became State champions; and

WHEREAS, Jim Cartwright was also involved with the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association; he was inducted into the Hall of Fame and served both as president and treasurer at different times; he has been a member of the Freestyle National Wrestling coaching staff seventeen times, serving ten times as head coach; he has also hosted developmental camps and clinics for both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling for the past thirty-two years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jim Cartwright and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jim Cartwright as a symbol of our respect.
