HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Carol L. Widmer has served in the Village of Mount Prospect's Finance Department from February 24, 1986 until January 31, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Carol Widmer was employed with the Village of Kenilworth from January 1984 until February 1986, devoting 24 total years to public service; and

WHEREAS, Carol Widmer began her career as an accountant in the Village's Finance Department in February of 1986; and

WHEREAS, Carol Widmer was promoted to Accounting Supervisor in April of 1986; and

WHEREAS, Due to her efforts and knowledge, Carol Widmer was quickly promoted to her current position as Deputy Finance Director; and

WHEREAS, Carol Widmer's position as Village Deputy Finance Director requires intelligence, dedication, and the ability to work well with others; and

WHEREAS, The responsibilities of Deputy Director are abundant and varied; such responsibilities include the oversight of all day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, the oversight of the Annual Financial Audit, assistance in the preparation of the annual budget, and serving as one of the staff liaisons to the Finance Commission; and

WHEREAS, Carol Widmer's B.A. in Accounting from Northeastern Illinois University in 1980 and her C.P.A., earned in the State of Illinois in December of 1981, superbly prepared her for her work as Deputy Finance Director; and

WHEREAS, During her time with the Village, Carol Widmer has served four Finance Directors with distinction; and

WHEREAS, Carol Widmer's experience and understanding of Village operations were exceptionally helpful and enabled a smooth transition; and

WHEREAS, Carol Widmer has been a member of the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association (IGFOA) since 1986; in addition, she is a current member of the National Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA); and

WHEREAS, Carol Widmer has worked tirelessly and with distinction as the Deputy Financial Director for the Village of Mount Prospect; she exemplifies the character of a devoted and respected public servant; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mount Prospect Village Deputy Financial Director Carol L. Widmer on the occasion of her retirement and thank her for her dedication to the citizens of Mount Prospect; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Carol L. Widmer as a token of our respect and esteem, with best wishes for an enjoyable and fulfilling retirement.
