HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, On February 19, 2007, WILL-TV, the PBS affiliate
3 in Champaign, will broadcast "10 Sisters: A True Story"; and
 
4     WHEREAS, 10 Sisters is the true story of the 10 daughters
5 of Glen and Ruth Waggoner; after financial troubles and
6 disagreements led their parents to the Coles County Courthouse,
7 the sisters found themselves separated by the State; and
 
8     WHEREAS, The girls ended up in orphanages, in foster homes,
9 or with relatives, and they were forced to break with their
10 familiar surroundings; and
 
11     WHEREAS, In the past 65 years the sisters have reunited and
12 worked to regain their once close-knit lives; and
 
13     WHEREAS, The book "10 Sisters: A True Story" has one
14 chapter each for the sisters, each telling her own story of the
15 past and what has happened in the days and years since being
16 pulled apart; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The 10 sisters are Virginia Rackley, Deloris Hart
18 (deceased), Rhita Brniak, Mary Margaret Hickmott (deceased),
19 Irma Allen, Roberta Ariel, Phyllis Ferguson (deceased), Vera
20 Barber, Audrey Alford, and Doris Wenzel; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 thank WILL-TV for bringing this tragic story to life and wish
4 the sisters nothing but the best as they continue to restore
5 their family ties; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to producer Tim Hartin, producer/writer Alison Davis
8 Wood and the staff of WILL-TV, to Virginia Rackley, Rhita
9 Brniak, Irma Allen, Roberta Ariel, Vera Barber, Audrey Alford,
10 Doris Wenzel, and to the families of Deloris Hart, Mary
11 Margaret Hickmott, and Phyllis Ferguson.
