HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joyce Lee Sowerby of Thayer, who passed away on January 22, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby was born on November 25, 1939 in Thayer, the daughter of George H. and Mary L. Gazda Sowerby; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby graduated from Virden High School with the Class of 1957; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby worked for the Illinois Department of Revenue as a public service administrator, serving more than 46 years with the Department; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Virden; she was an avid bowler and a member of the Springfield Bowling Association, where she was a past president; she also enjoyed attending area live theater performances and was very family oriented; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby was preceded in death by her father, George; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby is survived by her mother, Mary; her sister, Linda Mae Miller; her nephews, Mark E. Tisckos and Chad M. (wife Vivian) Tisckos; and her great-niece, Stephanie N. Tisckos; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Joyce Sowerby; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joyce Sowerby as an expression of our sympathy.
