HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the members of the Illinois House of Representatives that the National Association of Realtors is celebrating its centennial year in 2008; and

WHEREAS, The National Association of Realtors, "The Voice for Real Estate", is America's largest trade association, representing 1.3 million members, including NAR's institutes, societies, and councils, involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries; and

WHEREAS, The National Association of Realtors is the leading advocate for America's property owners, fights for the right to own, use, and transfer real property, and, serves as a valuable resource for its members, the public, and public policy makers on real estate issues; and

WHEREAS, The National Association of Realtors was founded as the National Association of Real Estate Exchanges on May 12, 1908 in Chicago, with 120 founding members, 19 Board, and one State Association; and

WHEREAS, The City of Chicago is still the home today of the National Association of Realtors; and

WHEREAS, WHEREAS, 60,000 citizens of Illinois are members of the Illinois Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate President Richard F. Gaylord, the members and staff of the National Association of Realtors, and its member State and local associations throughout the country; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we salute the National Association of Realtors and extend our best wishes for continued success during its second century; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to 2008 National Association of Realtors President Richard F. Gaylord.
