HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kerry R.
4 Sheridan of Shorewood, who passed away on February 12, 2008 at
5 age 75; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Kerry Sheridan served as Fire Chief of the Troy
7 Fire Protection District for the past 48 years and was
8 considered a founding father of the Volunteer Fire Department
9 in Troy Township; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Kerry Sheridan served on the Will County Board
11 since 1982 and was President of the Will County Forest Preserve
12 District, where he was the driving force behind the purchase of
13 land to create open areas for the public; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Kerry Sheridan was Chairman of the Will County
15 Local Emergency Planning Committee and a member of the Illinois
16 Fire Chiefs Association and the Joliet Junior College Fire
17 Science Advisory Committee; he was a veteran of the United
18 States Marine Corps and a member of V.F.W. Post 1080 and Elks
19 Lodge 296; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Kerry Sheridan is survived by his wife of 52
21 years, Donna M. Sheridan; his two daughters, Diane McLelland

1 and Patricia Sheridan; his two grandchildren, Kerry and Colin
2 McLelland; his brother, John F. (LaVonne) Sheridan; and his
3 several nieces and nephews; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Kerry Sheridan was preceded in death by his
5 parents, Raymond J. and Dorothy M. Sheridan; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Kerry
9 R. Sheridan; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Kerry R. Sheridan as a symbol of our
12 sincere sympathy and respect.
