SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 2805/2805-20 new

Amends the Department of Veterans Affairs Act. Creates the office of Veterans' State Employment Ombudsman within the Department. Provides that the Ombudsman shall monitor hiring done through the Department of Central Management Services and other State agencies to ensure that veterans' hiring preferences are being followed.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Department of Veterans Affairs Act is amended by adding Section 2805-20 as follows:

(20 ILCS 2805/2805-20 new)

Sec. 2805-20. The office of Veterans' State Employment Ombudsman is created within the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Veteran's State Employment Ombudsman shall monitor hiring done through the Department of Central Management Services and other State agencies to ensure that veterans' hiring preferences are being followed.
