SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of William Peter Caputo of Arlington
4 Heights, who passed away on March 22, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, William Caputo was born July 1, 1951, in Chicago,
6 to Otto S. and Elizabeth R. (nee Simonetti) Caputo; William and
7 Barbara Caputo (nee Glaser) were married on Aug. 29, 1980; and
 
8     WHEREAS, William Caputo graduated from Northern Illinois
9 University in 1972, where he received a master's degree in
10 1974, a certificate of advanced studies in 1975, and a
11 doctorate of education in 1977; he taught for nine years at
12 Ridgewood High School in Norridge; he was the current school
13 board president of District #23, where he had been a board
14 member for 20 years; he was a member of the Illinois
15 Association of School Boards and was awarded the level of
16 Master Board Member for his involvement; and in 1982, he
17 graduated with honors from DePaul University College of Law;
18 and
 
19     WHEREAS, His career as an attorney spanned 25 years; he was
20 a highly-regarded Chicago litigation attorney, handling large
21 and complex commercial cases and representing physicians,
22 hospitals, and plaintiffs in medical malpractice actions; in

1 1992, he joined and became a named partner in the Chicago firm
2 of Nilson, Stookal, Gleason & Caputo, Ltd.; he was a member of
3 the Chicago, Illinois State, and American Bar Associations, and
4 a member of the Illinois and American Trial Lawyers
5 Associations; he belonged to the Justinian Society and had
6 received the highest legal ability rating available (AV) from
7 his peers; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank J.
9 Caputo Jr.; and
 
10     WHEREAS, William Caputo is survived by his wife; his
11 children, Jennifer, William, Brian, and Nicholas; his parents;
12 his brothers, Paul V. (Cindy) and Thomas A. (Vivian); and his
13 godchildren, Frank J. Jr., Paul V. Jr., and Kathryn N.;
14 therefore, be it
 
15     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17 his family and friends, the passing of William Peter Caputo;
18 and be it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of William Caputo as a symbol of our
21 sympathy.
