SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Wilma Maxine Zimmerman Goodwin of Herrin,
4 who recently passed away; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Wilma Maxine Zimmerman Goodwin was born November
6 13, 1921, in Hurst to Clyde and Mae Zimmerman; she graduated
7 from Hurst High in 1939; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Wilma Goodwin worked for Dr. V. H. Burkhart in
9 Hurst; she married Ed Goodwin of Herrin on June 14, 1941 in St.
10 Louis; her husband was drafted and served time in United States
11 Army during World War II, and while he was overseas she worked
12 at Zwick and Goldsmith and at the office of Zwick's Ladies
13 Store; she later took a position as secretary to the Train
14 Master of the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Bush; when her
15 husband returned from the service, Wilma resigned her position
16 at the railroad to become a full time homemaker and prepared
17 for a family; and
 
18     WHEREAS, She was a past member of Hurst First Christian
19 Church and Carterville First Baptist Church and was a current
20 member of Herrin First Baptist Church; her life was devoted to
21 being a Christian, a daughter, sister, wife, mother,
22 grandmother, and homemaker for 85 years; and

1     WHEREAS, Wilma Goodwin was preceded in death by her
2 parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Izetta and Charles
3 Cutrell; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold and
4 Lois Goodwin, Earl Goodwin, and Carl and Lillian Goodwin; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Wilma Goodwin is survived by her loving husband of
6 65 years, Ed Goodwin; her sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and
7 Cookie Goodwin and Clay and Laurie Goodwin; her sister-in-law
8 and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and August Scherer; her
9 grandchildren, A.J and Ann Turner, Kelly Trammel, Robin and
10 David Banks, Bill and Andrea Turner, Amy and Justin McCann, Joe
11 and Angela Goodwin, Paul and Elizabeth Grear, Robin and Dan
12 Barkes, and Todd and Angela Grear; her great-grandchildren; and
13 her nieces and nephews, Mildred Gehler, Eddie Goodwin, Mary Ann
14 Goodwin, and Mike Scherer; therefore, be it
 
15     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17 her family and friends, the passing of Wilma Maxine Zimmerman
18 Goodwin; and be it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of Wilma Goodwin as an expression of
21 our sympathy.
