SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Wilma Maxine Zimmerman Goodwin of Herrin, who recently passed away; and

WHEREAS, Wilma Maxine Zimmerman Goodwin was born November 13, 1921, in Hurst to Clyde and Mae Zimmerman; she graduated from Hurst High in 1939; and

WHEREAS, Wilma Goodwin worked for Dr. V. H. Burkhart in Hurst; she married Ed Goodwin of Herrin on June 14, 1941 in St. Louis; her husband was drafted and served time in United States Army during World War II, and while he was overseas she worked at Zwick and Goldsmith and at the office of Zwick's Ladies Store; she later took a position as secretary to the Train Master of the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Bush; when her husband returned from the service, Wilma resigned her position at the railroad to become a full time homemaker and prepared for a family; and

WHEREAS, She was a past member of Hurst First Christian Church and Carterville First Baptist Church and was a current member of Herrin First Baptist Church; her life was devoted to being a Christian, a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker for 85 years; and

WHEREAS, Wilma Goodwin was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Izetta and Charles Cutrell; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold and Lois Goodwin, Earl Goodwin, and Carl and Lillian Goodwin; and

WHEREAS, Wilma Goodwin is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ed Goodwin; her sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Cookie Goodwin and Clay and Laurie Goodwin; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and August Scherer; her grandchildren, A.J and Ann Turner, Kelly Trammel, Robin and David Banks, Bill and Andrea Turner, Amy and Justin McCann, Joe and Angela Goodwin, Paul and Elizabeth Grear, Robin and Dan Barkes, and Todd and Angela Grear; her great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews, Mildred Gehler, Eddie Goodwin, Mary Ann Goodwin, and Mike Scherer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Wilma Maxine Zimmerman Goodwin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wilma Goodwin as an expression of our sympathy.
