SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 hear of the death of Debra Kay Macon of Chicago; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Debra Kay Macon was born on December 16, 1954 in
5 Chicago; her parents were Otha Macon and Fred Bailey; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Debra Kay Macon attended Brown Elementary School
7 and Cooley High School; and she received a Business Management
8 degree from Malcolm X College; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Debra Kay Macon joined the Hermon Baptist Church
10 in 1965, where she was then baptized; she later served under
11 Pastor Alvin J. Wesley as his nurse until his death in June
12 2006; she also served her church faithfully as a member of the
13 Junior Choir, the Hermon Ensemble, the Hermon Senior Choir, the
14 Women's Guild, and the Nurse's Ministry; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Debra Kay Macon was an active participant in her
16 community; she helped start the Resident Management
17 Corporation and Tenant Patrol, and served as the secretary of
18 the Cabrini Green Local Advisor Council for many years; she
19 also worked for J.H. Russell and the Chicago Youth Program from
20 2003 until her death; and

1     WHEREAS, Debra Kay Macon will be remembered by all who knew
2 and loved her as a very dedicated woman who would always help
3 those in need and as a true Christian who devoted her life
4 serving the Lord; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Debra Kay Macon is survived by her children,
6 Michael and Sabrina Macon; her sister, Valerie; her brother,
7 Darryl; her grandchildren, Giovounta and Terirua; her
8 godchildren, Andrea, Briniya, and Jaliyah; and many other
9 relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 her family and friends, the passing of Debra Kay Macon; and be
13 it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Debra Kay Macon as an expression of
16 our sympathy.
