SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to hear of the death of William Luebbers of Caseyville, who passed away on August 29, 2007; and

WHEREAS, William Luebbers was born on May 8, 1924, in East St. Louis; his parents were Ben and Francis Mae, nee White, Luebbers; he married Shirley, nee Billner, Luebbers on October 16, 1948; and

WHEREAS, William Luebbers retired as a switchman and yard master from Illinois Central Railroad; he served in the United States Army during the Second World War and was a "Flying Tiger"; he was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church; he had been a past member of the Caseyville Fire Department; and he was a past Post Commander and member of Caseyville VFW Post 1117; and

WHEREAS, William Luebbers served as mayor of the Village of Caseyville for 4 years and as a village trustee for 17 years; and

WHEREAS, William Luebbers was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, and his parents, Ben and Francis Mae; and

WHEREAS, William Luebbers is survived by his daughter, Kay (Greg) Smith; his son, Kent Luebbers; his brothers, James Luebbers and Ben Luebbers Jr.; his sister, Doris Lonski; his special cousin, Royd Benyr; and his grandchildren, Joshua and Onaliesa Luebbers and Alexis Smith; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of William Luebbers; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Luebbers as an expression of our sympathy.
