SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Violet Vivian Wetzel of Edwardsville, who passed away on October 14, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Violet Vivian Wetzel was born on May 4, 1918, in Mount Olive; she married Arthur Leonard Wetzel on January 27, 1937, and together they lovingly raised four sons; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Wetzel was a dedicated employee of Edwardsville Community School District 7 until her retirement; in her earlier years she was a dedicated and supportive Cub and Boy Scout leader for her active sons and was recognized by the Boy Scouts of America for her outstanding leadership; and

WHEREAS, Activities and affiliations closest to her heart included her faithful membership at Eden United Church of Christ in Edwardsville, fellowship with her dear friends in Eden's Circle 3, and her many years of dedicated volunteer service to Eden Village and to Hitz Home in Alhambra; it was her pleasure and mission to be a careful shopper for the small Eden Villager Apartments' grocery store; she always stocked the store with special requests from the residents and made sure that she purchased replenishing supplies at the very best price; apartment residents were always grateful for the special attention that she provided in their behalf; and

WHEREAS, Violet Wetzel was preceded in death by her dearly loved husband, Arthur Wetzel; an infant son in 1947, Ronald; her mother, Anna Scheibe Heidelberg; and her father, Jule Scheibe; and

WHEREAS, Violet Wetzel is survived by her sons, Robert (Carol) Wetzel, Thomas (Alice) Wetzel, Carl (Donna) Wetzel, and David (Jessica) Wetzel; her eight grandchildren: her granddaughter, Andrea Wetzel Darbon, her husband Russell and their two children, Madison Olivia and Lee; her grandson, Scott Wetzel, his wife Kristi, and their son Corbin Reid; her grandson, Stephen Wetzel; her grandson, Brian Wetzel, his wife Sara, and their four children, Benjamin, Emily, Elizabeth, and Carlos; her granddaughter, Kim Wetzel Knoechel, her husband George, and their three children Samuel, Grace, and Audrey; her granddaughter, Jill Wetzel Rice, her husband Russell, and their four children, Joshua, Caleb, Joseph, and Margaret; her grandson, Dennis Wetzel; and her grandson, Jacob Wetzel and his son, Gabriel; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Violet Wetzel; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Violet Wetzel as a symbol of our sympathy.
