SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marion Earl "Bud" Sever of Wood River, who passed away on December 2, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Marion Sever was born March 16, 1924, in East Alton to John and Bessie (Ingold) Sever; he married the former Germaine E. Braundmeier on August 31, 1947, in Alhambra; and

WHEREAS, He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving from 1943 to 1945 in both Canada and the United States; he was the owner of Sever's Market in East Alton for more than 50 years and is remembered for his personal service, delivering groceries throughout the town; he is also remembered as being a kind and generous individual; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as bishop of the Alton Ward in Godfrey for seven years; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Byron Sever; and two sisters, Mary Kohntopp and Pearl Vieregge; and

WHEREAS, Marion "Bud" Sever is survived by his wife, Germaine; his eight children and their spouses, John and Beth Sever, Michael and Angie Sever, Marsha and Reid Mortensen, Suzanne and Scott Smith, Robert and Melody Sever, David and Claudia Sever, Mary and Alan Young, and Mark and Suzanne Sever; his 41 grandchildren; his 30 great-grandchildren; his brother, Boyd Sever; and a sister, Bonnie Gentry; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and community, the passing of Marion "Bud" Sever; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marion "Bud" Sever as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
