SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Marion Earl "Bud" Sever of Wood River,
4 who passed away on December 2, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Marion Sever was born March 16, 1924, in East
6 Alton to John and Bessie (Ingold) Sever; he married the former
7 Germaine E. Braundmeier on August 31, 1947, in Alhambra; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving
9 from 1943 to 1945 in both Canada and the United States; he was
10 the owner of Sever's Market in East Alton for more than 50
11 years and is remembered for his personal service, delivering
12 groceries throughout the town; he is also remembered as being a
13 kind and generous individual; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
15 Latter Day Saints and served as bishop of the Alton Ward in
16 Godfrey for seven years; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; a
18 brother, Byron Sever; and two sisters, Mary Kohntopp and Pearl
19 Vieregge; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Marion "Bud" Sever is survived by his wife,

1 Germaine; his eight children and their spouses, John and Beth
2 Sever, Michael and Angie Sever, Marsha and Reid Mortensen,
3 Suzanne and Scott Smith, Robert and Melody Sever, David and
4 Claudia Sever, Mary and Alan Young, and Mark and Suzanne Sever;
5 his 41 grandchildren; his 30 great-grandchildren; his brother,
6 Boyd Sever; and a sister, Bonnie Gentry; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9 his family, friends, and community, the passing of Marion "Bud"
10 Sever; and be it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of Marion "Bud" Sever as a symbol of
13 our sincere sympathy.
