SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Captain Kevin Landeck of Wheaton, who was
4 killed in Iraq on February 2, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Kevin Landeck will be receiving the Purple Heart
6 Medal and the Bronze Star, posthumously, for his bravery in
7 service; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Kevin Landeck was a graduate of Wheaton
9 Warrenville South High School; he was a 2004 Purdue University
10 Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) graduate, majoring in law
11 and society; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Captain Landeck was assigned to the 2nd Battalion,
13 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th
14 Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, New York; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He met his wife, Bethany, while attending Purdue;
16 she was also in the Purdue ROTC program and is a member of the
17 National Guard; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Captain Landeck cared deeply for children, and was
19 corresponding with his cousin, Jill Neis, and her fourth grade
20 class at Timber Trails School in Hoffman Estates; and

1     WHEREAS, Captain Kevin Landeck is survived by his wife,
2 Bethany Landeck; his father, Richard Landeck; his mother, Vicki
3 Landeck; his sister, Jennifer Landeck; his brother-in-law,
4 Kyle Beck; and his cousin, Jill Neis; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7 his family and friends, the passing of Captain Kevin Landeck;
8 and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Captain Kevin Landeck
10 and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him
11 making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Captain Kevin Landeck as a symbol of
14 our respect and sympathy.
