SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Clarence "Sonny" Gwillim of Alton, who passed away on May 12, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Clarence A. "Sonny" Gwillim was born November 16, 1933, in Alton to Clarence W. and Laverna (Kohle) Gwillim; he married the former Helen E. Abeln in June 1963 in Alton; and

WHEREAS, He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956; and

WHEREAS, He was a moldmaker at Owens-Illinois Glass Company for 39 years; he later worked for Laidlaw Bus Company for the Alton School District 11 for 13 years; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father and a stepson, Jeff Hazelip; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother; his daughter, Sharon K. Gwillim; his son, John E. Gwillim; his stepson, James Ridder; his seven grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ellen Brown; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Clarence "Sonny" Gwillim; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Clarence "Sonny" Gwillim as a symbol of our sympathy.
