SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Glenn A. Jahnke of North Chicago, who passed away on February 13, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Glenn A. Jahnke was born on August 27, 1953 in Libertyville, the son of Walter and Lorraine Jahnke; he graduated from North Chicago High School in 1971 and attended the College of Lake County; and

WHEREAS, He worked for the City of North Chicago for 33 years, where he was the Building Inspector and Code Enforcer; and

WHEREAS, He was an avid gardener, nature lover, and baker of bread, cookies, and muffins; he enjoyed fishing at Independence Grove in Libertyville with his best friend Chris Ihrig; Glenn traveled the country bird-watching, sold photographs of birds to various publications, and did the bird count for 10 years; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Jahnke was recognized as one of the top nature photographers in the Midwest and achieved international exposure with photographs published in Canada, Australia, Germany, The Netherlands, and Japan; he was a member of the Chicago Area Camera Club Association, Riverwoods Nature Photographic Society, National Wildlife Federation and Lake County Farm Bureau; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Walter; his grandfather, Casimir Zdanowicz; his uncle, Roy Zdanowicz; his grandparents, Walter and Iva Jahnke; his aunts, Elaine Cannon and Lois Campbell; his uncle, Russell (Vivian) Jahnke; and his good friend (second mother), Grace DeWolf; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Jahnke is survived by his mother, Lorraine (Zdanowicz) Jahnke; his grandmother, Helen (Wasniewski) Zdanowicz; his brothers, Neal (Frannie), Mark, and David (Susan G.); his sisters, Lynn (Bruce) Jahnke Snyder and Susan Jahnke; his nieces and nephews, Sara, Eric, Erin, Paul, Alex, Greg, Maureen, Austin, Crystal, Joe, Bobby, Keri, Claire, David, Ciara, Fiona, Kaitlin and Jasmin; and his many cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Glenn Jahnke; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Glenn Jahnke as a symbol of our sympathy.
