SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Glenn A. Jahnke of North Chicago, who
4 passed away on February 13, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Glenn A. Jahnke was born on August 27, 1953 in
6 Libertyville, the son of Walter and Lorraine Jahnke; he
7 graduated from North Chicago High School in 1971 and attended
8 the College of Lake County; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He worked for the City of North Chicago for 33
10 years, where he was the Building Inspector and Code Enforcer;
11 and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was an avid gardener, nature lover, and baker
13 of bread, cookies, and muffins; he enjoyed fishing at
14 Independence Grove in Libertyville with his best friend Chris
15 Ihrig; Glenn traveled the country bird-watching, sold
16 photographs of birds to various publications, and did the bird
17 count for 10 years; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Glenn Jahnke was recognized as one of the top
19 nature photographers in the Midwest and achieved international
20 exposure with photographs published in Canada, Australia,
21 Germany, The Netherlands, and Japan; he was a member of the

1 Chicago Area Camera Club Association, Riverwoods Nature
2 Photographic Society, National Wildlife Federation and Lake
3 County Farm Bureau; and
 
4     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Walter;
5 his grandfather, Casimir Zdanowicz; his uncle, Roy Zdanowicz;
6 his grandparents, Walter and Iva Jahnke; his aunts, Elaine
7 Cannon and Lois Campbell; his uncle, Russell (Vivian) Jahnke;
8 and his good friend (second mother), Grace DeWolf; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Glenn Jahnke is survived by his mother, Lorraine
10 (Zdanowicz) Jahnke; his grandmother, Helen (Wasniewski)
11 Zdanowicz; his brothers, Neal (Frannie), Mark, and David (Susan
12 G.); his sisters, Lynn (Bruce) Jahnke Snyder and Susan Jahnke;
13 his nieces and nephews, Sara, Eric, Erin, Paul, Alex, Greg,
14 Maureen, Austin, Crystal, Joe, Bobby, Keri, Claire, David,
15 Ciara, Fiona, Kaitlin and Jasmin; and his many cousins;
16 therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19 his family and friends, the passing of Glenn Jahnke; and be it
20 further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 presented to the family of Glenn Jahnke as a symbol of our
