SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Everett E. "Gene" Goacher of Alton, who passed away on November 28, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He was born in White Hall on July 25, 1921, the son of Everett and Gladys (Hopper) Goacher; and

WHEREAS, He married the former Rita Leady on October 24, 1949 in Alton; she preceded him in death on January 4, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He owned and operated Gene's Appliance-Air Conditioning & Heating for 40 years; he was a member of Alton VFW Post 1308, the Illinois Pilots Association for many years, and American Legion 126; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Rita; and

WHEREAS, Everett Goacher is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Sarah and Jim Irvin and Susan and Rick Jones; his son and his wife, David and Eileen Goacher; his eight grandchildren, Brandon and Adriane Goacher, Matt, Jessica LeBrun and her husband, Jeremy, Kristyn Irvin and Adam, and Kaylin and Tanner Jones; his two great-grandchildren, Landon Jones and Wesley LeBrun; his two sisters and a brother-in-law, Alice Stark and Glenda and Merle Apitz; his two brothers and their wives, Bill and Mary Goacher and Darrell "Hank" and Melba Goacher; and his companion, Wilma Bobbs of Alton; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Everett E. "Gene" Goacher; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Everett E. "Gene" Goacher as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
