HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Blondell Plumbing on
4providing 120 years of service to the Quad Cities community;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Blondell Plumbing was originally founded as
7Swanson Plumbing by Victor Swanson in 1902; in the century
8that followed, the business was passed down to family members
9three times, first to Victor's daughter Marion in 1941, then
10to Walt Blondell in the mid-1960s, and finally to Walt's son
11Steve in 2002; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Blondell Plumbing gained its current name in
131941; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Blondell Plumbing's various owners have invested
15much of their own time and energy in learning, practicing, and
16sharing their knowledge of their trade, with many entering the
17trade and business directly after finishing school and
18continuing to help around the business well into retirement;
19the business has also served as a great place of education for
20the next generations of tradesmen through its apprenticeship
21programs with the Local 25 Union; and

1    WHEREAS, Blondell Plumbing has been crucial to the
2completion of many area projects in the Quad Cities, including
3residential and commercial buildings; the business' team has
4also helped to build a community of respect, cooperation, and
5friendship among various contractors in the area through
6collaboration on large projects; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Blondell Plumbing has developed a reputation as
8an upstanding and reliable business within the community
9through cultivating relationships with clients in the
10community over several generations, permitting the business to
11continue to rely solely on word-of-mouth advertising; and
 
12    WHEREAS, With the retirement of Blondell Plumbing's
13current owner, Steve Blondell, in 2022, the business will
14close after over a century of operating in Moline; therefore,
15be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we recognize and thank Blondell Plumbing for serving the Quad
19Cities community for the past 120 years; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the owners of Blondell Plumbing as a symbol of our
22respect and esteem.
