HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Debra Ward-Mitchell on the occasion of being named by the National Education Association as the Education Support Professional of the Year for 2022; and

WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell is a strong advocate for Education Support Professionals, ensuring that they know their value and worth and that the rest of the community recognizes their contributions; and

WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell has served Thornton Township High School District 205 for 38 years; and

WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell has worked as a paraeducator in Thornton Township High School District 205 for 20 years, serving students with behavioral disorders and helping them succeed; and

WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell has worked tirelessly to keep vulnerable students on track for graduation; and

WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell is an assistant director at the Infant Care Center in District 205, where she provides services for teen parents; and

WHEREAS, Debra Ward-Mitchell is an outstanding union member, a passionate student advocate, and a powerful voice for Education Support Professionals; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Debra Ward-Mitchell on being named the 2022 Education Support Professional of the Year by the National Education Association, and we wish her many years of continued advocacy and service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Debra Ward-Mitchell as an expression of our esteem and respect.
