SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frank Spurgetis of East Moline, who passed away on July 10, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Frank Spurgetis was born to George and Katherine "Katina" (Birles) Spurgetis in East Moline on November 29, 1932; he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1956; he married Terry Lawrence in August 1960, and they had three daughters, Dena, Shelley, and Nicole; he later married Roxanne Smith in Bettendorf, Iowa on August 7, 1982, and they later married in the Greek Orthodox Church and had two sons, Phillip and Alex; and

WHEREAS, Frank Spurgetis worked in the Supply Procurement and Operations Center at the Rock Island Arsenal; he retired after 42 years of service in 1993; and

WHEREAS, Frank Spurgetis' passion was his family, and he enjoyed spending holidays and special occasions with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Bulls; he enjoyed playing bingo with family and friends; he also enjoyed having breakfast with his friends, Pete Lingris, Tony Stopolous, and Spiro Pappaspiros; and

WHEREAS, Frank Spurgetis was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Jennie Karman, Anne Allen, Gus Spurgetis, and Tom Spurgetis; and his beloved dog, Kaylie; and

WHEREAS, Frank Spurgetis is survived by his wife of 39 years, Roxanne; his daughters, Dena (Christian) Nicholas, Shelley Spurgetis, and Nicole (Pete) Fedele; his sons, Phillip (Carrie) Spurgetis and Alex (Amy) Spurgetis; his 11 grandchildren; his nine great-grandchildren; and his brother, Socrates Spurgetis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Frank Spurgetis and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frank Spurgetis as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
