SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marian Constance Tetzlaff, who passed away on July 29, 2019 at the age of 90; and

WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff was born Marian Constance DiGregorio in Chicago on March 7, 1929; she lived in the Oak Park-River Forest area for the majority of her life and spent her last years of her life in Solana Beach, California; and

WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff was a member of Calvary Memorial Church in Oak Park for many years and also attended First Presbyterian Church in River Forest; she lived her faith fully by imparting her values of kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness to her family; she always started and ended her day with devotion and prayer; and

WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff raised five children while working full time; she worked in the City of Chicago for a large law firm as a lead legal assistant, while remaining extremely organized and efficient in running the family household smoothly; she kept an impeccable home and entertained with grace; and

WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff was a woman of many talents, including a passion for sewing, needlework, and knitting; her hand was fine, and she knitted with a group of skilled knitters until the end; she spent many years as a member of the 19th Century Club in Oak Park, knitting for babies; and

WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff had a beautiful voice and sang in choirs large and small; one felt blessed to sit next to her in church to hear her sing one of her favorite hymns "Holy, Holy, Holy"; she loved opera and classical music and volunteered for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; and

WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff traveled throughout the world and especially loved the Smoky Mountains, where she enjoyed hiking to view the wildflowers; and

WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff remained an active learner throughout her life; she embraced technology, had a weekly video conference with her children, and kept an active email correspondence with many; and

WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff gathered a wide circle of friends and had an insightful sense of humor; she was very beautiful and had a countenance of optimism and grace that she maintained throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Tetzlaff, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff is survived by her children, Gregory (Donna) W. Tetzlaff, Dr. Linda (Warren) T. Brubaker, Laura (Robert) J. Godfrey, Lisa (Timothy) J. Pfiffner, and Thomas G. Tetzlaff; her grandchildren, Dr. Aleah L. Brubaker, Bradley K. Pfiffner, Rebecca E. Tetzlaff, Corey P. Pfiffner, Gregory W. Tetzlaff II, Anita Morea, Keene N. Brubaker, and Andrew T. Pfiffner; her great-grandchild, Matthew Warren Morea; and her brother, Frank DiGregorio; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marian Constance Tetzlaff and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marian Tetzlaff as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
