SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul Joseph Schmidt M.D. of Peoria, who passed away on July 4, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Schmidt was born to Herbert L. and Marie E. (McCadden) Schmidt in Evergreen Park on September 9, 1952; he finished medical school at Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1982; after his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship, he moved to Peoria; in 1987, he began his cardiology practice, which, throughout the years, expanded to serve patients within central Illinois; he dedicated his life to medicine and taking care of his patients; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Schmidt was prepared for any adventure; he was an accomplished outdoorsman who enjoyed everything, including mountain climbing, backpacking, and running marathons; when he wasn't physically partaking in nature, he was capturing it with his camera; most of all, he loved to see the world with his wife; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Schmidt is survived by his wife, Georgia (Fox) Schmidt; his son, Daniel Schmidt; his stepchildren, Jessica, Jeffrey, James, and Brenna; his eight grandchildren; his sister, Lynn Schmidt-Camomile; his brother, Glen (Susan) Schmidt; his nieces, Kelli Schmidt and Nicole Camomile; his nephew, Michael Schmidt; his aunt, Lillian McCadden; and his former wife, Corinne; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul Joseph Schmidt M.D. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Paul Schmidt as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
