SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Bill" Glenn Owens of Bloomington, who passed away on September 1, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Bill Owens was born to Kirtz Glenn and Dorothy (Kelley) Owens in Towanda on June 12, 1942; he was raised and educated in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School in 1960; he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965; he married Judy Lane Boruff at the United Methodist Church in Lexington on June 29, 1963; and

WHEREAS, Bill Owens spent 20 years working at Sears in Bloomington and later owned B.J.'s Restoration in Bloomington, retiring in 2019; and

WHEREAS, Bill Owens was a member of Eastview Christian Church and served in many ministries of the church; and

WHEREAS, Bill Owens was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sally Jo; and

WHEREAS, Bill Owens is survived by his wife, Judy; his son, Benjamin James Owens; his brothers, Delmar (Jean) Owens, DuWayne Owens, Leon (Sarah) Owens, and Lynn Owens; and his sisters, Dorothy Mae Owens, Phyllis Leslie, and Annetta Webber; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, we mourn the passing of William "Bill" Glenn Owens and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Owens as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
