SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jeanette C. "Jenny" Sgro of
4Springfield, who passed away on January 16, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jenny Sgro was born in Mt. Carmel to Hyginus T.
6and Pauline (Berberich) Kieffer on April 30, 1938; she grew up
7in Mt. Carmel and moved to Springfield in 1956 to attend the
8St. John's College of Nursing, where she became a registered
9nurse; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jenny Sgro was married to Sam P. Sgro for 25 years
11and was involved in rental real estate and the St. Nicholas
12Hotel; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jenny Sgro was an FFA Queen, a Silver Life Master
14at Duplicate Bridge, and a member of the King's Daughters
15Organization; she loved family gatherings and was a good cook
16and an accomplished ballroom dancer and pianist; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jenny Sgro was a Florida snowbird for 20 years
18before coming back to Springfield to enjoy beautiful winters
19with her family; she moved into Concordia Village in 2016,
20where she had many friends; she was a wonderful mother,
21grandmother, and great-grandmother; she had an abiding faith,

1as well as a beautiful smile, a great sense of humor, and an
2always positive attitude; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jenny Sgro was preceded in death by her brother,
4William Kieffer Sr.; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jenny Sgro is survived by her children, Gregory
6(Leslie) Sgro, Peter (Michelle) Sgro, Catherine (Ron) Boerke,
7and Steven (Janet) Sgro; her sisters, Peggy Micko and Terri
8Snider; her brother, Kenny Kieffer; 10 grandchildren; and two
9great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Jeanette C. "Jenny" Sgro and extend our sincere condolences to
13her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Jenny Sgro as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
