    Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning election of incorporated town officers.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
5changing Section 3.1-25-95 as follows:
 
6    (65 ILCS 5/3.1-25-95)  (from Ch. 24, par. 3.1-25-95)
7    Sec. 3.1-25-95. Incorporated town officers. For the the
8general municipal election to be held in the year 1985 in every
9incorporated town with a population of 25,000 or more by the
10last official census, and every 4 years thereafter, the
11municipal clerk shall certify the names of the candidates to
12the proper election authority as provided by the general
13election law. A president, a clerk, an assessor, a collector,
14and a supervisor shall be elected for a term of 4 years and
15until their successors are elected and have qualified.
16Whenever a vacancy occurs in the office of any of the specified
17officers, the vacancy shall be filled for the remainder of the
18term at the next general municipal election in that
19incorporated town as provided in Section 3.1-10-50. Whenever
20an election is held for this purpose, the municipal clerk
21shall certify the office to be filled and the candidates for
22that office to the election authorities as provided in the
23general election law. During the period from the time a

1vacancy occurs until a clerk, assessor, collector, or
2supervisor is elected and has qualified, the vacancy may be
3filled by appointment by the president and board of trustees
4of that incorporated town voting jointly. During the period
5from the time a vacancy occurs until a president is elected and
6has qualified, the vacancy may be filled by appointment by the
7board of trustees of that incorporated town.
