SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to congratulate Kenwood Academy High School on its recent Chicago Public League City Championships; and

WHEREAS, The Kenwood Academy High School baseball team won the 2023 Chicago Public League Championship by defeating Walter Payton College Preparatory High School on May 22, 2023 at Guaranteed Rate Field by a score of 2 to 0; and

WHEREAS, The baseball team put fourth a total team effort to claim their championship, their first Public League title; and

WHEREAS, The Kenwood Academy High School track and field team won its first Chicago Public League indoor city championship on March 18, 2023, taking gold in eight events; and

WHEREAS, The track and field team recorded a total of 129 points at the end of the meet, defeating defending indoor track champion Lane Tech High School; last season, they took second place in the CPL indoor championship, trailing Lane Tech by 21 points; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Kenwood Academy High School on its recent CPL championships, and we wish them many more successful seasons; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the principal of Kenwood Academy High School as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
