SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert B. "Bob" Bennett of Rock Island, who passed away on January 19, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Bob Bennett was born in Ottumwa, Iowa to Fred and Edna (Callaway) Bennett on January 25, 1932; he served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1956; he married Ginny Mehall in Moline on September 20, 1975; and

WHEREAS, Bob Bennett was an entrepreneur and owned and operated AAA Muffler and Lube Shops from 1970 to the early 2000s; and

WHEREAS, Bob Bennett enjoyed restoring antique cars and boating on the river; and

WHEREAS, Bob Bennett was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John A. Bennett; and his siblings, Fred, Joe, and Billie; and

WHEREAS, Bob Bennett is survived by wife of 48 years, Ginny; his children, Rhonda Bennett, Andrea Bennett, Judi Bennett, and Julie (Kurt) Samuelson; his grandchildren, Shannon and Brandt; his great-grandchildren, Addisyn and Kassius; his brother, John; and his bonus son, Mike Mills; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert B. "Bob" Bennett and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bob Bennett as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
