SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/17-2.11c new

    Amends the School Code. Provides that if, prior to the effective date of the amendatory Act, Cambridge Community Unit School District 227 has levied and the county clerk has extended taxes for fire prevention and safety purposes without the certificates of the regional superintendent of schools and the State Superintendent of Education, then the tax levies and extensions and the expenditures by the school district of the extended amounts are validated. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
5 17-2.11c as follows:
 
6     (105 ILCS 5/17-2.11c new)
7     Sec. 17-2.11c. Validation; Cambridge Community Unit School
8 District 227. If, prior to the effective date of this
9 amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly, Cambridge
10 Community Unit School District 227 has levied and the county
11 clerk has extended taxes for the purposes described in Section
12 17-2.11 of this Code without the certificates of the regional
13 superintendent of schools and the State Superintendent of
14 Education required by Section 17-2.11, then the tax levies and
15 extensions and the expenditures by the school district of the
16 extended amounts are hereby validated for all purposes to the
17 same extent as if the district had received and filed the
18 necessary certifications prior to the tax levies and extensions
19 and had expended the funds in full compliance with Section
20 17-2.11.
 
21     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22 becoming law.
