HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Geraldine A. "Gerrie" Parr of Champaign, who passed away on February 12, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Parr was born on July 28, 1946, in Cadillac, Michigan; her parents were Dan and Dorothy Parr; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Parr graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1964; she earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1968; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Parr served as Champaign County Auditor for many years until her retirement; she also served as chairwoman of the Champaign County Democratic Party for 10 years, where she gained a reputation as an avid Democrat who was respectful and civil to the opposition; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Parr enjoyed skiing, sailing, reading, cooking, and traveling to locations around the world, including Tahiti, China, France, Peru, and Egypt; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Parr was preceded in death by her husband, Kurt McKenzie; her mother; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Altman; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Parr is survived by her daughter, Daniellinda "Dani" Schooley; her father and step-mother, Dan and Mavon Parr; and her sister, Linda Altman; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Parr will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as a hard-working Democrat, a great unifier, a great cook, and a gracious hostess; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Geraldine A. "Gerrie" Parr; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Geraldine Parr's daughter, Daniellinda "Dani" Schooley, as an expression of our sympathy.
