1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the
4 administration, faculty, and students of Northeastern Illinois
5 University on the celebration of NEIU-El Centro's 40th
6 anniversary; and

7     WHEREAS, NEIU-El Centro has served the Latino community
8 since 1969; and

9     WHEREAS, The mission of NEIU-El Centro is to prepare
10 students for leadership and service in the region and in a
11 dynamic multi-cultural world; and

12     WHEREAS, NEIU-El Centro offers undergraduate and graduate
13 courses which lead to bachelor's and master's degrees; and

14     WHEREAS, NEIU-El Centro currently serves over 1,000
15 evening and weekend students each semester; and

16     WHEREAS, NEIU-El Centro serves the Latino community
17 through English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and computer
18 literacy instruction, as well as outreach programs in the areas
19 of health, housing, and technology; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 congratulate the administration, faculty, and students of
4 Northeastern Illinois University on the celebration of NEIU-El
5 Centro's 40th anniversary and extend our best wishes for
6 continued success and achievement; and be it further

7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Northeastern Illinois University.
