HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The KAM Isaiah Israel Congregation has selected Samuel D. Golden to receive the Rabbi Hayim Goren Perelmuter Memorial Award in recognition of his leadership, dedication, and service; and

WHEREAS, After joining the KAM temple in 1950 with his wife, Paula Adler, he became the chairman of the KAM Schools Committee and a member of the Board; and

WHEREAS, He was a principal draftsman of the merger agreement, constitution, and by-laws that joined KAM Temple with Isaiah Israel; and

WHEREAS, He served as president of the congregation for three years, during which time he engaged architects to complete an addition, including a chapel, community hall, and garden; and

WHEREAS, Sam, after his tenure as president, continues to serve on the Weinstein and Perelmuter memorial committees; and

WHEREAS, His two sons, Daniel and Jonathan, were Bar Mitzvah in the temple and his daughter Miriam was Bat Mitzvah; and

WHEREAS, As a cellist, he has contributed to numerous services at the temple; and

WHEREAS, Sam has been very active in advocacy for the mentally retarded because of his daughter Anne; he has served on the board and as a committee chairman for the Voice of the Retarded, a national advocacy organization supporting choice in residential arrangements for the mentally retarded; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Samuel D. Golden on being chosen as the KAM Isaiah Israel Congregation's recipient of the Rabbi Hayim Goren Perelmuter Memorial Award, and we applaud his lifetime of service and dedication to his congregation; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Samuel D. Golden and KAM Isaiah Israel as an expression of our respect and esteem.
