| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The KAM Isaiah Israel Congregation has selected | 3 |
| Samuel D. Golden to receive the Rabbi Hayim Goren Perelmuter | 4 |
| Memorial Award in recognition of his leadership, dedication, | 5 |
| and service; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, After joining the KAM temple in 1950 with his | 7 |
| wife, Paula Adler, he became the chairman of the KAM Schools | 8 |
| Committee and a member of the Board; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He was a principal draftsman of the merger | 10 |
| agreement, constitution, and by-laws that joined KAM Temple | 11 |
| with Isaiah Israel; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He served as president of the congregation for | 13 |
| three years, during which time he engaged architects to | 14 |
| complete an addition, including a chapel, community hall, and | 15 |
| garden; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Sam, after his tenure as president, continues to | 17 |
| serve on the Weinstein and Perelmuter memorial committees; and | 18 |
| WHEREAS, His two sons, Daniel and Jonathan, were Bar | 19 |
| Mitzvah in the temple and his daughter Miriam was Bat Mitzvah; | 20 |
| and |

| WHEREAS, As a cellist, he has contributed to numerous | 2 |
| services at the temple; and
| 3 |
| WHEREAS, Sam has been very active in advocacy for the | 4 |
| mentally retarded because of his daughter Anne; he has served | 5 |
| on the board and as a committee chairman for the Voice of the | 6 |
| Retarded, a national advocacy organization supporting choice | 7 |
| in residential arrangements for the mentally retarded; | 8 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 10 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 11 |
| congratulate Samuel D. Golden on being chosen as the KAM Isaiah | 12 |
| Israel Congregation's recipient of the Rabbi Hayim Goren | 13 |
| Perelmuter Memorial Award, and we applaud his lifetime of | 14 |
| service and dedication to his congregation; and be it further
| 15 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 |
| presented to Samuel D. Golden and KAM Isaiah Israel as an | 17 |
| expression of our respect and esteem.
