HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Officer
4 Michael Robbins, who passed away September 13, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Officer Michael Robbins was born on June 3, 1951;
6 he attended high school and enlisted in the Navy where he
7 received a Bronze star for his service in the Vietnam War and
8 went on to serve in the Navy Reserves; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Officer Robbins joined the Chicago Police
10 Department in 1986 and worked in the Grand Crossing Districts;
11 and
 
12     WHEREAS, Officer Robbins served the Chicago Police
13 Department with honor and distinction for eight years prior to
14 his injuries; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Officer Robbins was a proud member of the Chicago
16 Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #7; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Officer Robbins became an advocate for gun control
18 laws in the community and the State, spoke at the Democratic
19 National Convention, directed the Epidemic Lowering Plan, and
20 ran for the Illinois State Senate; and

1     WHEREAS, The Chicago Police Department has retired Officer
2 Robbin's star, which is numbered 4203; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Officer Robbins leaves behind a daughter, two
4 sons, a stepson, two grandchildren, and a brother; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Officer Michael Robbins dedicated and gave his
6 life to protecting and serving the people of Illinois;
7 therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10 mourn, along with family, friends, and Fraternal Order of
11 Police brothers and sisters, the passing of Officer Michael
12 Robbins; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Officer Michael Robbins as an
15 expression of our sympathy.
