HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Natalie Edwards of O'Fallon on winning the 50 meter backstroke title in the Missouri-Illinois area meet held in Dekalb on March 21, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Natalie Edwards started with swimming lessons at the O'Fallon YMCA when she was 3 years old; she joined the year-round YMCA of Southwest Illinois (YOSI) a little over one year ago; and

WHEREAS, YOSI is a Y/U.S.A. swimming team that swims in both U.S.A. and YMCA sanctioned meets; in 2009, in her first summer of long-course(50 meter pool) swimming, she placed in the top five in the U.S.A. St. Louis Ozark Districts in the 50 Back and 50 Free, achieving a AAA national time in the 50 Back; and

WHEREAS, March 6-7th, 2010, she was the St. Louis YMCA District Champion in the 50 Back and finished second in the 100 Free; she also finished third in the 100 Individual Medley; and

WHEREAS, She then competed in the subsequent Missouri-Illinois Area (bi-State) meet up in Dekalb on March 21, 2010, capturing the 50 Backstroke title along with a fourth in the 100 Free and the 100 IM; Natalie was one of just two girls that qualified and made the finals (top eight) in all of their individual events; she was one of two girls from YOSI to win an individual championship; and

WHEREAS, Her proud parents are Rick Edwards and Mary Edwards; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Natalie Edwards on hard work in swimming and wish her continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Natalie Edwards as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
