HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Rob Sadowsky has forcefully advocated for the public interest for more than 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sadowsky is the Founding Executive Director of the Chicago Mutual Housing Network; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sadowsky led the Community Ventures Program for the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs; the program links private investors in affordable housing and economic development projects; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sadowsky is a founding member of the Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sadowsky led the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation to adopt a new mission to serve all vulnerable road users; and

WHEREAS, The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation is now the Active Transportation Alliance of North America's largest advocate for bicyclists, pedestrians, and public transit riders; and

WHEREAS, Under Mr. Sadowsky's leadership, the Active Transportation Alliance expanded to include more than 35 professional staff and 5,000 members; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sadowsky is a board member of the League of Illinois Bicyclists and the Alliance for Bicycling and Walking; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sadowsky is a champion of social equity and the rights of low-income, underserved communities; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sadowsky is leaving the Active Transportation Alliance; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate June 10, 2010 as Rob Sadowsky Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Rob Sadowsky as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
