HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Destiny Carter, a junior from Danville High School, on winning the State title in the 400 meter race at the IHSA State track and field meet in Charleston on May 22, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Junior Destiny Carter became Danville High School's second girls' track and field State champion Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brien Stadium; she also added runner-up efforts in three other events; and

WHEREAS, She personally scored 34 of the 46 points Danville needed to secure its first State trophy in the 38 years of the girls' track finals; and

WHEREAS, She has never been beaten in the 400 up to this point; on May 22, she recorded a time of 55.09, almost beating her previous best of 55.07; and

WHEREAS, Destiny also received second-place medallions in the long jump (18 feet, 3 3/4 inches) and the 100 meters (12.04), and she posted the State's second-best time, covering all three classes, in the 200 meters; and

WHEREAS, Destiny Carter is a valued part of the Danville Lady Vikings track team, and was a part of the team as they captured third place on May 22 at the State meet; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Destiny Carter and wish her continued success in her high school career; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Destiny Carter as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
