HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Donald E. Meyer on the occasion of his retirement as the University of Illinois McLean County Extension Director on August 15, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Donald Meyer earned his bachelor's degree in agricultural education from Illinois State University and his master's degree in education from the University of Illinois; he also served as an agriculture instructor at Lexington High School; and

WHEREAS, Donald Meyer began his career with the McLean County office as an agriculture educator on August 21, 1983; In 1990, he moved to the role of manager, where he oversaw all of the unit's programs; at this time, he also continued to teach workshops in agricultural awareness, horticulture, agriculture economics, and pest management; he has taught credit courses at Illinois State University for 13 semesters over the past 14 years, with courses in agronomy, turf, landscape management, agriculture education, and introduction to horticulture; and

WHEREAS, Donald Meyer is a member of the Illinois Extension Agriculture Association; he has been recognized for his work as an Achievement Award winner in IEAA; he has received state awards in the IEAA program twice; he also presented a paper to the National Association of County Agriculture Agents national meeting in 1987; and

WHEREAS, Donald Meyer received the McLean County Outstanding Service to Agriculture Award in 1990; he was recognized for service to the ISU Agriculture Department in 1992; he was also recognized by the University of Illinois Extension, receiving the Award of Excellence for Sustained Excellence in Extension Programming in 2000; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate McLean County Extension Director Donald E. Meyer on his retirement and wish him the best in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be present to McLean County Extension Director Donald E. Meyer as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
