HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor "A Place For Me" Autism Learning Center in Chicago on the occasion of their third annual dinner for autism awareness, on October 23, 2010; and

WHEREAS, "A Place For Me" was founded by Elaine Reeves-Haywood in June of 2002 to provide the tools, programs, and services that her son and other children with autism could use and benefit from; and

WHEREAS, The mission of "A Place For Me" is "to provide service to families and support for the children affected by autism"; their hope is to "provide support for ongoing parent/child issues, voice concerns for autism related issues, be available as a community resource, provide training and support on various autism related topics, provide educational assistance to regular and special education students", and many other services; and

WHEREAS, "A Place For Me" also raises community awareness about autism and sponsors family outings; and

WHEREAS, The long range goal of "A Place For Me" is to provide a community center for after school programs, social skill programs, and a place for workshops for parents; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor "A Place For Me" for their hard work and dedication to helping children with autism and their families; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Elaine Reeves-Haywood as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
