HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened by the death of Stephen T. "Tee"
4Hynes, who passed away on December 11, 1989; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stephen Hynes joined the United States Navy on May
616, 1960, where he served until his honorable discharge in
7January of 1964; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Stephen Hynes had a long and distinguished career
9with the State of Illinois; he began his career in 1972 at the
10Lincoln Developmental Institute; he subsequently worked as a
11prison guard at Stateville Correctional Center and the Illinois
12State Psychiatric Institute; he served as the chief operating
13engineer of the State of Illinois Center from October 1, 1983
14to December 11, 1989; he is credited with contributing greatly
15to the correction of the Center's many initial heating and
16air-conditioning flaws and helping the Center run more
17smoothly; and
 
18    WHEREAS, During his career, Stephen Hynes was employed as
19an operating engineer at the Chicago Police Department, the
20filtration plant, and the State of Illinois; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Stephen Hynes was an unsuccessful candidate for

1the Cook County Board in 1986, garnering more than 90,000
2votes; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Stephen Hynes was survived by his wife, Kathleen;
4his sons, Stephen, Brian, and Jack; his daughter, Karen; his
5many grandchildren; his mother, Antoinette; and four brothers;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
10Stephen T. "Tee" Hynes; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Stephen T. Hynes as an expression of
13our sympathy.
