HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened by the death of Stephen T. "Tee" Hynes, who passed away on December 11, 1989; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Hynes joined the United States Navy on May 16, 1960, where he served until his honorable discharge in January of 1964; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Hynes had a long and distinguished career with the State of Illinois; he began his career in 1972 at the Lincoln Developmental Institute; he subsequently worked as a prison guard at Stateville Correctional Center and the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute; he served as the chief operating engineer of the State of Illinois Center from October 1, 1983 to December 11, 1989; he is credited with contributing greatly to the correction of the Center's many initial heating and air-conditioning flaws and helping the Center run more smoothly; and

WHEREAS, During his career, Stephen Hynes was employed as an operating engineer at the Chicago Police Department, the filtration plant, and the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Hynes was an unsuccessful candidate for the Cook County Board in 1986, garnering more than 90,000 votes; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Hynes was survived by his wife, Kathleen; his sons, Stephen, Brian, and Jack; his daughter, Karen; his many grandchildren; his mother, Antoinette; and four brothers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Stephen T. "Tee" Hynes; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stephen T. Hynes as an expression of our sympathy.
