HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ryan Rikje on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Rikje began his scouting career in 2000 at the age of 7 with Cub Scout Pack 190; he steadily climbed the ranks of the Cub Scouts, eventually reaching the rank of Webelos; he then crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 303 chartered out of Lord of Glory Lutheran Church in 2003; once again showing great initiative, he continued his rise through the Boy Scout ranks by actively participating in camp outs, service projects, and earning 23 Merit Badges until he reached the pinnacle of achievement within the organization, the rank of Eagle Scout, on June 24, 2010; and

WHEREAS, To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, Ryan Rikje led the effort to build a concrete pad for the Lord of Glory Church Trailer as a new permanent parking space next to the church garage; the project has made snow plowing easier, created more room for additional church parking, and made the church very appreciative; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Rikje has served in many positions of responsibility within the Boy Scouts, including Troop Librarian, Assistant Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Rikje was inducted into Scouting's National Honor Society, the Order of the Arrow (OA), in 2008 and received his OA Brotherhood Honor in 2010; he is also an active member of Venture Crew 607, a high-adventure scouting group; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Rikje was recognized at a Court of Honor on September 19, 2010 for his work in Scouting and his contributions to his community; and

WHEREAS, Ryan Rikje's family, friends, and fellow Scouts, along with the members of this body, are proud of his hard work and dedication in gaining this prestigious rank; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ryan Rikje on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ryan Rikje as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
