HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the passing of United
4States Army Specialist James "Chad" Young, who passed away
5while serving his country on November 3, 2010, in Nar-Kariz,
6Kandahar Province, Afghanistan; and
 
7    WHEREAS, He was born August 10, 1985, in Springfield, to
8Jerry and Brett Ann Bowen Young; he was raised in the Rochester
9area, attended Ball-Chatham schools, and graduated from
10Glenwood High School in 2003; and
 
11    WHEREAS, He joined the United States Army in 2004 and
12served in Korea before deployment to Afghanistan for the first
13time, returning in late 2007; he was called back for a second
14tour of duty and arrived in Afghanistan in early June of this
15year, where he was assigned to the 863rd Engineer Battalion;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, He was promoted to corporal posthumously; and
 
18    WHEREAS, United States Army Specialist James "Chad" Young
19is survived by his parents; his sister, Katie Marie Robbins;
20his brother, Steven Baptist; his girlfriend, Maria Millburg;
21his grandmother, Gladys Young; his nieces and nephews, Caleb

1Baptist, Elizabeth Baptist, Sydney Robbins, and Kamryn
2Robbins; his aunts and uncles, Lois Young, Patty and John
3"Sandy" Bacia, John and Carol Bowen, Joannie and Dave
4McCallister, and Joe and Rosie Bowen; and his 16 cousins;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful nation,
9the passing of United States Army Specialist James Young; and
10be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of United States Army
12Specialist James Young and his willingness to serve his
13country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of United States Army Specialist James
17Young as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
