HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Mater Dei High School Girls Volleyball Team, the Knights, on winning the Illinois Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, Mater Dei, ranked number 26 in the country by prepvolleyball.com, finished the season with a 21-match winning streak and a 41-1 record; and

WHEREAS, The team lost the first game to Joliet Catholic but came back to win the next 2 games, giving them the school's sixth State championship, the first one since 2001; and

WHEREAS, The Knights had tried previously to beat Joliet Catholic in 2005, 2008, and 2009; and

WHEREAS, The Varsity Coach is Fred Rakers and the Assistant Coach is Chad Rakers; the manager is Jamie Voss; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Mater Dei Volleyball Team are: Samantha Bedard, Alison Mueller, Brooke Schulte, Abbey Winter, Alyssa Hitpas, Nicole Strieker, Kayla Eversgerd, Kaley Boeckmann, Mallory Mensing, Ashley Rakers, Chelsea Crocker, Alison Lampen, Abby Luebbers, Bailey Kampwerth, and Emily Koelling; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Mater Dei High School Girls Volleyball Team on winning the Illinois Class 3A State Championship and wish them continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Mater Dei High School Girls Volleyball Team as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
