HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Bill Morris of West Frankfort, who passed away on October 17, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Bill Morris was born on February 12, 1927, in West Frankfort; his parents were Joe and Lillie (Griffith) Kee Morris; he married Pat (Avery) Morris on March 10, 1950, in West Frankfort; and

WHEREAS, Bill Morris served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Navy; he was a member of American Legion Post 1961 of Orient; and

WHEREAS, Bill Morris retired after many years of service as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service; and

WHEREAS, Bill Morris was very active in many community and county activities; he was a member of Franklin County Country Club and a former board member of the Frankfort Unit District 168 School Board; he served on the Franklin County Sheriff's Department Merit Board and was a former member of the Franklin County Board and the Denning Cemetery Board; he was also an active member of the Redbird Boosters Club, the West Frankfort Masonic Lodge 567, where he was also a past master, and the Shriners; and

WHEREAS, Bill Morris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother, Kenneth Morris; and

WHEREAS, Bill Morris is survived by his son, Greg and his wife, LaVeme Morris; his daughters, Terri Morris and Cindy Jo and her husband, Allan Knopf; his 7 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Benns; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Bill Morris; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Morris as an expression of our sympathy.
