HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Linda Gallien on the occasion of her retirement as Village Clerk of the Village of Bartlett; and

WHEREAS, Linda Gallien began her long and distinguished career with the Village of Bartlett on September 27, 1978, when she joined the staff as a part-time receptionist in the Village Clerk's Office; a year later, she was hired on full time in the Clerk's Office; and

WHEREAS, Linda Gallien was first appointed to serve as Bartlett's Village Clerk in December of 1986 to fill the unexpired term of the previous Village Clerk, Linda Harper; she subsequently won the consensus of the voters in the next six consecutive elections; she has served the Village of Bartlett tirelessly, having missed only one meeting in her 22 years as Village Clerk; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure with the Village of Bartlett, Linda Gallien has seen the village grow from a population of 11,004 to a modern community of nearly 42,000 residents; she was the first person that many new Bartlett residents encountered when they came to Village Hall when moving in, cheerfully welcoming them to their new community and sending them home with arms full of useful municipal information and recycling bins; and

WHEREAS, Linda Gallien was very active in the North and Northwest Suburban Cook Municipal Clerks Association and served in leadership positions for that organization as Secretary, Vice President for Membership, and President; at the State level, she also served as the District Two Director for the Municipal Clerks of Illinois from 1998 to 2001; and

WHEREAS, Linda Gallien serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Linda Gallien on the occasion of her retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Linda Gallien as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
