HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate David J. Conlin on
4 his retirement as Arthur Village President; and
 
5     WHEREAS, As a result of receiving 635 votes in the April 7,
6 1981 election, David J. Conlin began his career as a public
7 servant, first as a Village Trustee for 20 years and then as
8 Village President for 8 years; and
 
9     WHEREAS, His first order of business on the Village Board
10 dealt with the building of a new swimming pool; next, a
11 Community Building was discussed and in August of 1999, 14
12 years later, the Municipal Building & Community Room was
13 completed; in January of 1988, the Board approved purchasing
14 two lots, where today the Gazebo and parking lot are located;
15 and
 
16     WHEREAS, He helped pass industrial revenue bonds for
17 expansion and improvements on behalf of the Schrock/Tappan Co.
18 and Progress Industries, CDAP Grants for new roads on the CHI
19 property, and a street extension for the development of
20 Eberhardt Village; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Major improvements and expansions over the years

1 in the Village have included work with Randall Electric,
2 Yoder's Kitchen, and Oye's Hardware; in addition, several new
3 businesses have moved to Arthur, including Dollar General,
4 Roselens, Yoder's Lamp Shop and Antiques, Crossman's, Millers
5 Variety, Country Cheese and More, APT Computers, and Subway
6 Restaurant; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He has also seen improvements in the
8 infrastructure of the community, the implementation of the
9 D.A.R.E. program, a Village recycling program, new health care
10 facilities, Village warning sirens, a new subdivision project,
11 and many other changes to Arthur throughout the years he has
12 served; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15 congratulate David Conlin on his retirement and wish him the
16 best in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to David Conlin as a symbol of our respect.
